A well played unbeaten 110 by Emanuel Seecharam led his team Port Mourant to first innings points over Whim National when play in the 2016 Memorex U17, Two-innings Cricket Competition, organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) continued in the Ancient County.
Seecharran’s innings helped his team to 225 for nine in response to Whim National 120 all out.
Whim National batted first and reached their total through 44 (5×4) from J. Prince and 38 by M. Charan. There were 30 extras.
Bowling for Port Mourant, Antonio Kempadoo had destructive figures of 6-21, while Cheddi Budhu, Kevin Latiff and Ezikel Kempadoo snared one each.
Port Mourant in their turn at the crease found themselves in trouble at 31-4. But Seecharran batting at No3, clobbered 10 sweetly timed fours in company with Kameshwar Chaterpaul with 39(3×4), put on 101 for the fifth wicket to take their team out of trouble.
Seecharran continued to flourish with lower order support from Budhu, with 14(2×4) as he reached his century. There were 35 extras.
Bowling for Whim R. Apadhu took three wickets, while R Munroe and M. Charan supported with two each.
The competition is continuing.
