Outstanding performances by Jevon Hector and Terrence De Cunha guided Providence to a comfortable 108-run victory over Ruimveldt when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association 50-over tournament continued on Saturday.
Hector was the mainstay of Providence innings, smashing six fours and eight sixes guiding them to 233 all out in 29.4 overs after they decided to bat at Farm. He shared in useful partnerships with Safraz Alli who made 22 and Dale La Rose 23. Quincy Grimmond chipped in with a run-a-ball 26 as Terrence Mootoo captured 4-51, Eric Sukrah 3-33 and Deonarine Seegobin 2-26.
Ruimveldt never recovered from a bad start and were sent packing for 125 in 28.5 overs. Sukrah got 30 (2×4,2×6), Mootoo and Almando Doman 18 each; De Cunha claimed 4-11, Brentnol Ross had 2-15 and Govinda Moniram 2-41.
At Laluni, North Soesdyke overcame Silver Bullet by 44 runs. Batting first, North Soesdyke managed 175 all out in 31 overs. Leroy Primo made 52, while Vishal Sarjoo got 22 and Ronald Jaisingh 20; Colin Benjamin took three wickets. Silver Bullet were bowled out for 131 in 35 overs in reply. A. Gomes made 36 as Sunil Sarjoo and Clitus Johnson snared three wickets each and Jaisingh two.
