Banks DIH has partnered with Blairmont Cricket Club for the hosting of the Roy Fredericks Memorial T20 tournament set for March 19 and 20. The entity has donated an undisclosed sum to the club at a simple ceremony
held recently.
The two day event will see eight top teams tussling for supremacy; the 4 preliminary rounds bowls of 12:30hrs on Saturday with Young Warriors facing Bath Underdog, Cotton Tree Die Hard battling West Berbice Super King at 15:30 hrs and at 19:00 hrs, Blairmont Blazers will take on Skeldon Gladiators. On Sunday Rose Hall Youth and Sports Club will face Bush Lot United from 10:00hrs before the top four clash in the semi-finals followed by the Final.
The fundraiser will look to address main concerns of the club, covers for the pitch. Another of the club’s aim is to promote a Spelling Bee and a Math Quiz for grade 6 students in Region 5 to prepare them for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) with the blessing of the Ministry of Education in the latter part of the year.
Other attraction for the tournament will be a Domino and Volley Ball competition, Cartoon Characters, Ice Cream and air horns giveaway, tassa drumming, trampoline, bouncy castle, live commentary and one man band entertainment.
