With the focus by the government on promoting a clean, green Guyana, the Region Two Administration, in conjunction with Puran Brothers Garbage Services and the Neighbourhood Democratic Council, has commenced an intense clean up exercise on the Essequibo Coast. The exercise started at Dartmouth Village.
The removal of debris from the communities is to facilitate preparations for the celebration of Guyana’s 50th Independence Jubilee.
Matthew Munroe, Public Relations Officer attached to Puran Bros, said that the cleanup exercise will end on May 8, next. Members from his company along with the Region Two Administration and the Anna Regina Municipality will continue to conduct the cleaning exercise every weekend except the Easter weekend and Labour Day.
Munroe said that the response by residents who are also getting involved is encouraging.
Meanwhile, a number of parks have been constructed in the Region to create a green, clean community. Under- utilised lands have also been transformed to recreation centers.
