The body of a female employee of the New Amsterdam Constabulary was yesterday afternoon fished out of a trench along the Republic Road in the vicinity of Savannah Park, Stanleytown, New Amsterdam.
Her body had no visible mark of violence while her bicycle which was reportedly intact was also found in the trench.
The woman has been identified as Davon Shepherd, 45, a mother of two of Alexander Street, New Amsterdam.
When she was found she was clad in her working pants and a multi coloured top. She was wearing a ring and was carrying a bag. Reports are that the woman worked on Saturday afternoon and left to attend the wake of a brother of a colleague at Number 57 Stanleytown. She never arrived.
The woman, who has been employed as a constable at the constabulary for the past 10 years was scheduled to work on Sunday morning, but after she did not show up for work, calls to her phone went unanswered .
The body was spotted in the trench around 16:00 hrs by passersby.
