Hurricanes anticipate victory vs Jaguars

WICB’s Regional 4-Day cricket competition when they host the leaders here at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground starting today.
Coach of the sub-regional team, Reginald Benjamin said their round nine clash against the visitors will not be a repeat of their first round encounter.
“We had them 21 for three and we allowed them to get away, so I don’t think this time around we are going to let it be that easy. I think the players now have the concept and the philosophy of what I am trying to bring on board, so I am confident that we should do better. I am looking for a win from this game because I know that we have the players to execute,” he said.
The Hurricanes have made one change to their line-up going into the match, bringing in Nevisian batsman Kieran Powell for countryman Nelson Boland. Benjamin hopes Powell will bring some stability to the middle order.
“Sometimes, we get good opening stands but we tend to lose wickets in bunches and two, with an experienced player, if he is in the 11, the adjustment can come sooner and hopefully help to lay the foundation at number 5, 6, 7 and 8 so if he is playing and batting within 1 and 4, he is one of the players we will be looking forward to in terms of basically anchoring the innings,” the Antiguan said.
Leeward Islands are at the bottom of the standings with 39 points while Jaguars are on 125 points at the top. Barbados Pride is second with 106 points. Today’s match will bowl off at 10 am. (Antigua Observer)
