It will be the renewal of fierce rivalry between the West Bank and West Side when Uitvlugt Warriors and
Pouderoyen face off in the championship match of the Den Amstel Mash Cup organised by the Den Amstel Football Club.
In their respective semi final matches on Wednesday night last at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground, Uitvlugt Warriors sneaked into the final on account of an own goal that was scored by Den Amstel while Pouderoyen clipped Eagles of Stewartville 2-1.
Contesting the main game, Uitvlugt and Den Amstel did not let up as they have always battled in some scorching affairs. But this time around, it was Uitvlugt that prevailed as Den Amstel was not able to keep their nerves.
An own goal from Kevaughn Ward in the 70th minute was all that was needed to gift Uitvlugt their passage into tomorrow’s final that has a purse of $200,000 at stake, second place attracts $100,000.
In the first semi final, Morgan Danny netted a double for Pouderoyen in the 29th and 59th minute to see them book their date with Uitvlugt. Eagles pulled one back in the 62nd minute through Jalen Williams but it was not enough to deny Pouderoyen.
Tomorrow’s third place match which has $75,000 and $50,000 at stake for the winner and the loser brings together Den Amstel and Eagles from 19:00hrs.
This match will be preceded by a veterans clash between West Bank and West Side from 17:30hrs.
Den Amstel FC is expressing thanks to the following sponsors for their support: Banks DIH, RDC Region #3, National Sports Commission, Attorney James Bond and Forrester Lumber Yard among others.
