Guyana blast their way into the Quarter-Finals at the 11 Peru Under-19 Junior International World Ranking Badminton Tournament held in Lima Peru at the Regatas Club Badminton Courts.
Sunburst World Ranked Player and National Junior & Senior Champion of Guyana Narayan Ramdhani reached the Quarter Finals in Boys Singles by defeating Gabriel Urteaga Hammond: 21- 11, 21-14 and teamed up with No. 2 National Junior Player Jonathan Mangra to reach the Quarter Finals in Boys Doubles by defeating Mariano Novoa & Gustavo Alfredo Salazar: 21-17, 21-14.
This is Narayan Ramdhani first International Tournament for 2016 after recovering from a knee ligament injury he picked up at the Suriname Open International late November 2015 after executing a Jump Smash and landed on a slippery court. This caused his training to be slightly affected but he seems to be coping fine.
The Tournament continued last evening with the players looking to get into Semi-Finals & the Medal Round.
Jonathan Mangra lost his Singles match in the first round in thrilling three setter to Mariano Novoa: 17-21, 21-12, 18-21.
The Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) would like to thank the GOA, NSC, Yellow Mining and Bounty Farm for assisting the two players to attend this tournament.
