Now that the quarter-finalists in this year’s Milo Under-20 Schools Football Competition have been decided, fans could expect riveting action for the remainder of the tournament which is being played, at the Ministry of Education
ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Defending champion Chase Academic Foundation is set to oppose North Georgetown and while the latter impressed in their 4-2 win over St. John’s College in the Round of Sixteen segment, many believe that the reigning title holder’s offensive firepower may prove too much for their opponent.
Kelsey Benjamin, Rayn Hackett and Sunil Logan, goalscoerers in their previous encounter have looked irrepressible when on the attack and could again dominate proceedings.
On the other hand, North Georgetown’s Nehemiah Gomes has been lethal throughout the campaign and he has already shown what a one-man wrecking crew he could be, while support for his exploits could come from Daniel Nedd, Osafo Nedd and Christopher Waddell.
The matchup that pits Queen’s College versus Bishop’s High is a contest of epic proportions with bragging rights from all reports the central theme.
These two schools have always searched to dominate each other and this encounter is the kind of rivalry that sets up nicely for a blockbuster.
The two schools also enjoy large support from their respective bases and the setting seems ripe for another sellout in the arena.
Captain of Bishop’s High Shemar Britton, who is a former student of Queen’s College, is expected to lead his charges once again and his cool and calculated temperament has been integral to the team’s success and stability.
Marquee player Lloyd Anderson, who netted the key goal to eliminate the highly-touted St. Rose’s High will once again be called upon to spearhead their quest for victory.
Queen’s College, who escaped with a nerve tingling win in a penalty shootout against Tucville, will hope to improve their individual and collective performances against Bishop’s High.
Kevin Wills and Michael Hunter have been two of the key players in their setup and will no doubt be the ones to orchestrate a win.
Christ Church versus South Ruimveldt is another encounter that should provide fireworks and choosing a winner seems to be a difficult proposition.
Rahul Alpin, Wainwright Adams and Shamar Carrington were the goalscorers for Christ Church in their previous match and are anticipated to guide their efforts for victory, while Cecil Jackman is the key for South Ruimveldt.
What more could be said about the Lodge versus Dolphin clash.
This rightfully is the match of the day and predicting its outcome is proving to be a headache.
Lodge, a former champion of the tournament will be led by Shamar Smith, Frank King, Simeon Hackett and Leon Blake and obstructing their incursions will take a mighty effort.
On the other hand, Dolphin, beaten finalist last year, have harboured ambitions since the start of this year’s competition to getting back to the final and winning the coveted crown.
They’ve looked impressive to date, Shawn Mohammed, Leon Richardson and Ryan Dowding will obviously have a say in their pursuit of victory.
Sunday is the date with destiny for the remaining eight schools.
The fixtures are seen below:
Chase Academic Foundation versus North Georgetown; Queen’s College vs. Bishop’s High; Christ Church vs. South Ruimveldt and Lodge vs. Dolphin.
