Krishan Shivgobin and Safraz Esau struck half centuries to guide Independence A to a nine-wicket victory over Belle Vue when the West Demerara Cricket Association President’s Cup T20 tournament continued on Sunday.
Batting first, host Belle Vue manage 161-8 with Mustafaa Azimullah scoring 53 (2×4,2×6) and Sheik Bacchus 33 (4×4,1×6); Ayube Mohamed grabbed 3-41 and Thakur Persaud 2-12. Independence A responded with 162-1 in 14.4 overs. Shivgobin hammered five fours and two sixes in scoring 57, while Esau clobbered four fours and three sixes in an even half century. Kevin Austin had 1-25.
At Zeeburg, the host defeated Belle West by 181 runs. Zeeburg batted first and posted 309-6. Ganesh Narine stroked 78 (5×4,6×6) while Vickash Dhaniram got 53 (4×4,3×6) and Kevlin Shewpersaud 52 (5×4,2×6). Kevlin Sankar and Roy Sundra claimed three wickets each. Belle West responded with 128-9. Navin Sundra hit 35 (3×4,1×6); Yetesh Dhanpaul picked up 3-14 and Malcolm Hubbard 3-24.
At Wales, the home team overcame Canal No. Two by 50 runs. Batting first, Wales rattled up 193-8. Ryan Yankhana made 59 (3×4,5×6) and Roger Henry 30; Chien Gittens snared 3-27 and Chabiraj Ramcharran 2-26. Canal No. Two were restricted for 143-7 in reply. Derwin Christian slammed 48 (4×4,3×6), while Rajkumar Latchman made 20. Vishnu Sue took 2-12.
At Canal No.Two, Mc Gill beat Cultural by ten runs in a low scoring affair. Mc Gill made 45 all out in 16.4 overs, taking first strike. Anthony Ifill picked up 2-7 and Ghansham Mahabal 2-11. Cultural were bowled out for 35 in 15 overs in reply. Sudesh Persaud bagged 4-5, Daniel Basdeo 3-6 and Diquain Murray 2-12.
