Dear Editor,
I applaud all the people who are asking the authority to have the death penalty implemented. Sir, I live in Berbiee on the Corentyne Coast, and as a concerned citizen I am profoundly troubled about the spiraling violent crime rate that affecting our society and the nation as a whole.
May I say to the Hon. Minister, Mr. Khemraj Ramjattan and the Government that Corentyne from the bottom to the top is being affected by surge of criminal activities now more than any other times. I believe, and I know, Sir a lot of people are calling on the Government to have the death penalty implemented and I now calling, praying and hoping that the death penalty and flogging from the cat-o-nine tail be implemented because that and only that is the solution to stop the behavior of those sick, crazy and uncontrolled barbaric criminals out there roaming, who must be stopped.
Gone are the days in the past when people used to respect elders, teachers and police officers, etc. even then criminal at that time, but today the criminals attacks the police with maximum violence. It seems to me that the criminal no longer respect and not afraid of the law of the land, having become more dangerous, daring/ blatant in the crime trade.
Mr. Editor, as law abiding citizens we have to rely on the justice system, for justice in a timely efficient and effective manner. Sir, most of the time, that right has been taken away. The human rights people are thoroughly against the death penalty.
Let it be known and remembered at all time:- the death penalty still exist on the pages of the law books, but no longer enforced. I referred those human right people to the book of Genesis Chapter 9 verse 6 which reads: whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man, shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God made he man. I was fortune to travelled from one country to another when I was in the military overseas, I am aware that most developed countries in the world still have the death sentence/ penalty to date. To all who are singing “No” to the death penalty within the groups of the human rights community. Listen, wake up, see the light, see injustice and seek justice, read Gen 9:6.
