The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB)/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers Over40 T20 tournament is set to bowl off today.
Lower East Bank Lions will clash with Lower East Coast Bulls at the Lusignan ground, Georgetown Bears oppose West Coast Seals at DCC, Upper East Coast Tigers face Georgetown Buffaloes at Enterprise ground while West Bank Demerara Mavericks battle Upper East Bank Colts at Farm ground.
This eight team competition has drawn two teams from each Association in Demerara. Each will play each other in the preliminary rounds for a total of 28 matches to be contested every Friday afternoon. The top four teams will qualify for the semis.
Teams can earn bonus points for winning their games by large margins of runs or for very few wickets. Other exciting rules mandate that each team must bowl a minimum of seven bowlers with no bowler delivering more than three overs per game. These games will not have the usual T20 fielding restrictions but standard cricket rules and conditions will apply.
Each team was given a box of balls for the Competition and the man-of-the-match of each match will be awarded a trophy. The Winner and Runner-up will also be awarded with trophies. Each match will commence at 13:00hrs.
