Lodge Secondary needing an emphatic win to qualify for the knockout phase in this year’s Milo Under-20 Schools Football Competition did just that after inflicting a 6-0 pounding on Brickdam Secondary yesterday, at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Also making it to the next round was North Georgetown, who squeezed past St. Joseph’s High 2-1in an evenly contested matchup.
Appearing in their final game of the Group stage, the former champion were led to victory through a brace apiece from Shemar Smith, who netted in the seventh and 42nd minutes, Leon Blake in the 12th and 57th minutes and Simeon Hackett in the 22nd and 45th minutes respectively.
North Georgetown withstood a ferocious second half offensive from arch-rivals St. Joseph High, before prevailing 2-1with Nehemiah Gomes giving them a seemingly comfortable two-goal lead in the first period after netting in the 24th and 49th minutes.
However, St. Joseph’s High gave a spirited display in the final period with Philippe Meredith’s 62nd minute creating a bit of a panic, but North Georgetown held on with determination until the final whistle sounded.
In the other game that was played, North Ruimveldt and Queen’s College battled to a 2-2 stalemate.
Tyrese Rowley booted in two goals for North Ruimveldt in the 11th and 28th minutes respectively, while Kevin Wills and Michael Hunter responded for Queen’s College in the 16th and 37th minutes.
Houston Secondary was awarded full points following the withdrawal of Morgan Learning Centre.
The winning school will cart off the championship trophy and $500,000 towards a school project, while the second, third and fourth placed finishers will take home $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively to go towards projects of their choices.
