Corporate Guyana continues to join forces with GCB in financing critical national competitions. The latest of these corporate sponsors is Dave West Indian Exports Guy-NY whose sponsorship was secured on Friday last for the GCB Under-15 Inter-County 2016. This Inter-county Championship will comprise the three county teams and a GCB President Xi team which shall comprise mainly reserve players from the three counties.
Dave Narine of Dave West Indian Imports presents the sponsorship to Anand Sanasie (centre) of the GCB while Colin Stuart looks on.
Dave West Indian Imports was started in 1990 by Dave Narine and has grown to become one of America’s largest importers of West Indian and Caribbean products. This family owned and operated business supplies distributors, wholesalers and retailers in North America with the finest products at reasonable prices.
This sponsorship comes at a time when Guyana’s U-15 teams are dominating Regional Tournaments, winning the title back to back in 2014 and 2015. Sponsorships go a long way in assisting this level of success to continue. Hence, the GCB is extremely grateful to have Dave West Indian Imports onboard as its new U-15 sponsor and is eager for this partnership to continue in years to come.
This corporate entity also came onboard with cricket in Berbice. Such initiative is seen as a fruitful intervention as it helps the organisers to run their competitions smoothly and further assist in the long term development of our cricket.
The Under-15 Championship bowled off Saturday with Demerara versus Essequibo at DCC and Berbice versus GCB President XI at GCC.
In round two set for tomorrow, Tuesday 22 February, Berbice take on Demerara at DCC and Essequibo clash with GCB President XI at Wales ground. The third round is on Thursday 25 February with Essequibo going up against Berbice at Enterprise ground and GCB President Xi taking on Demerara at Wales ground. And the Final will feature the two top teams at GCC on Saturday, 27 February.
