Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club well known ability to maintain a long term sponsorship, was once again on Friday last supported by Bakery giants, Bakewell who renewed its cricket sponsorship for the seventeenth consecutive year. The Georgetown based business giant would be pumping $230,000 in the Club’s Under-17 and Second Division teams for 2016. Bakewell would also during the year, co-sponsor the RHTYSC annual youth magazine, annual cricket academy, annual awards ceremony, charity outreach programmes, educational summer camp and sponsor the annual Naem Nasir 5 overs Memorial cricket tournament.

Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster hailed Bakewell as one of RHTYSC Main foundation of success and described the Company as one the Club’s best friends. Quoting former Patron of the Club, MS. Beverly Harper, the long standing Secretary/CEO stated that the RHTYSC was a small Club from a small community doing great things and creating miracles. Bakewell, he stated has been sponsoring the two teams since the year 2000 and over the years have won a combined eight Berbice Championships and numerous local tournaments.
The Second Division team is currently awaiting to play the semi-finals of the NBS 40 overs tournament, while the Under-17 team is also awaiting for the long delayed Under-17 Berbice Quarterfinals.
The RHTYSC, he stated is proud to be the bearer of the Bakewell brand in Berbice and would continue to do so in the future with pride and passion. Foster informed that players like James Fraser, Askay Homraj, Michael Trim, Kemraj Mahadeo, Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Abdel Fudadin, Jason Sinclair, Shemaine Campbelle and Erva Giddings have all represented the Bakewell teams over the last seventeen years. The teams which has special responsibilities for the RHTYSC Say No to Drugs, Crime and Suicide programme has also competed a total of 804 projects/activities under the name of the sponsorship, with special emphasis on youths in the Lower Corentyne area.
Both teams have committed themselves to successfully completing 8- projects/activities during 2016 Under the Sub-heading of sports, religious, anti-drugs, anti-suicide, charity and youth development. The Club, whose Patron is President David Granger, expressed gratitude to the Management of Bakewell especially its General Manager Rajin Ganga for its continued support and confidence.
General Manager of Bakewell, Rajin Ganga stated that Bakewell has never regretted its sponsorship of the Club and has watched on in admiration as the RHTYSC has transformed itself as the leading youth and sports organisation in Guyana. The Bakewell brand has received major promotion via the cricket teams and he offered congratulations to the RHTYSC on being awarded a national award – The Medal of Service by the Government of Guyana for its outstanding contribution to the development of our beloved country.
The Bakewell Under-17 team in 2016 would be led by national junior cricketer Kevlon Anderson with Keith Simpson as his deputy, while Major James Fraser would lead the Second Division team with Anderson as his Deputy. Keith Hicks and Ravindranauth Kissoonlall would perform the duties of Manager.œ
