Six female teams from the interior location of Orealla and Siparuta up the Corentyne River have travelled the 70 miles journey to the coast to join their costal counterparts and participate in the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) female volleyball outreach slated for today at the Skeldon Line Path Community Centre.
The teams; Force X1 A and B, Siparuta, Reggae Girls A and B, and Falcons are expected to be joined by Black Birds, Skeldon females, Berbice High School and Canje secondary.
A number of U-19 teams including boys and girls will also be a part of the activity which will be used as part of the BVA’s drive to bolster its programme and have more female and U-19 teams participate in the game.
The day’s activity is expected to get started at 09:00 hrs.
Lectures, coaching and a few exhibition games are part of the day’s programme. The activity will also be used to help select a number of female and U-19 teams to participate in and represent Berbice in future competitions. Persons will also be selected to participate in national trials.
Resource persons are expected to include BVA president Levi Nedd and former President Gregory Rambarran among others. (Samuel Whyte)
