Keval Persaud was elected chairman of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee at a Special General Meeting held on Thursday in Good Success. Totaram Ramnarine who held the position for the past year stepped down due to personal reasons.
Bhawanie Persaud who served as Treasurer was replaced by Looknauth Persauda after the former vacated the post also due to personal reasons.
Other members of the executive are Navishal Pooran vice chairman, Nazeer Mohamed secretary, Safraz Mohamed assistant secretary treasurer and Vickram Ramnarine public relations officer.
Ramnarine is also the chairman of the competition committee while Gladwyn Henry leads the disciplinary committee.
The WCC will name the head of their selection panel shortly. The committee members are Imran Khan, Oyono Sampson, Victor Wong, Trevor Stewart, Satnarine Sahadeo, Tamesh Persaud, Marsh Singh, Ajay Ghansam, Vijay Persaud and Roopnarine Persaud.
Newly elected chairman Persaud thanked the members and urged his fellow executive to work collectively for the development of the game on the island. He expressed gratitude to Regal Sports and Trophy Stall for their assistance. The committee also congratulated Keemo Paul on his success with the West Indies U19 team in the World Cup.
