The curtains finally came down in the Ministry of Education, Department of Sport and the National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) beginner’s table
tennis coaching programme for Students of 30 Secondary Schools in central Georgetown at the National Gymnasium that commenced on Monday January 18, 2016 and concluded on Friday February 12, 2016.
The programme attracted 21 schools namely, The Business School, Central High, Charlestown, Christ Church, Dolphin, Full Benefit Academy, School of the Nations, New Campbellville, North Georgetown, North Ruimveldt, Queens College, Marian Academy, St Georges, St John’s College, St Rose’s, Tucville, Kingston, Queenstown, Sophia Special School, St. Barnabas Special School and Freeburg.
The objectives of the programme were to develop and improve the level of table tennis in schools, to help students with the basic skills, to increase the number of participants involved in the sport and to create an integrated coaching programme that incorporate the coach education and players development.
