The Forbes Burnham Foundation in keeping with its annual tradition will be hosting the Forbes Burnham
Memorial Cycle Race on the 21st and 23rd of February.
The first stage of the race will be on Sunday, Feb 21 at 7:00am from New Amsterdam to Rose Hall and return, while the second stage is on Feb 23 at 7.00am from Linden to Georgetown. The final stage will also be held on the 23rd at 2.00pm from Georgetown to Belfield and return.
This race was first held 6 years ago. At that time it was a one stager. Three years ago it was extended to two stages and this year it is being further extended to three.
It has always been held in the month of February, the birth month of the Late Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham and has always attracted a large field of cyclists from Georgetown, Linden and Berbice. The winners will be rewarded with cash prizes.
The event will see juniors, open, veterans and female categories being contested.
Formerly administered by the Guyana Cycling Federation, this year’s race will be administered by the Flying Stars Cycling Club.
