…father still unaware of incident
Ten-month old Omar Jones, and his 18-year-old mother Maria Jones, are both on the road to
recovery after they were allegedly chopped last Saturday by the man in whose care they were left.
When contacted yesterday, the sister of the woman, Camille Jones, stated that the baby and mother were both out of the danger zone and that she was expecting that the duo will soon be discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The alleged assailant, Jeewan Sanichar, a 60-year old labourer and grandfather of the child, was slapped with two charges for unlawful and malicious wounding of baby Omar with intent to murder and the unlawful and malicious wounding of Maria Jones.
Sanichar was remanded to prison. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance at the Wales Court on February 26.
Meanwhile, the father of the baby, Vinod Sanichar, who works in the interior, is still unaware of the incident since all efforts by his wife and relatives to locate him have so far, been futile.
