Eccles and Herstelling recorded victories when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association 50-over
tournament continued on Sunday.
At Laluni, Eccles defeated North Soesdyke by four wickets. Batting first, North Soesdyke were sent packing for 84 in 16.4 overs on a difficult pitch. Neil Richardson and Sherwin Stewart added 42 for the first wicket, but their dismissal triggered a collapse as pacer Eon Rodrigues grabbed 6-16 and Mark Roopchand 2-7. Sunil Sarjoo and Ronald Jaisingh were the only other bastmen that got into double figures with 16 and 11 respectively. Eccles replied with 87-4 in 17 overs. Opener Mark Ramsammy struck 34 while Daniel Barker made 24.
At Farm, Herstelling overcame the host by nine wickets. Farm were bowled out for 122 in 28 overs, taking first knock. John Paton slammed 35 and Ricky Debideen 34. David Alert snared 4-6, Roman Daniel 2-11 and Ricky Sergeant 2-14.
Herstelling responded with 123-1 in 17.2 overs. Sergeant clobbered seven fours and three sixes in a top score of 64 while Michael Alexander cracked 50 not out with five fours and two sixes.
