East Coast Demerara were crowned champions of the Demerara Cricket Board Inter-Association U15 50-over tournament after rain ruined their final round fixture against Georgetown yesterday.
Heavy overnight showers prevented any play at Lusignan thereby handing East Coast the title after they finished with a better run rate; both teams registered two wins in as many matches.
At Wales, West Demerara defeated East Bank by seven wickets. Batting first East Bank were shot out for 103 in 26 overs. Mark Tularam made 18 and Alex Arinda 16 not out. Andre Seepersaud claimed 4-19, Jason Payne had 3-35 and Rajesh Boodram 2-22.
West Demerara replied with 104-3 in 32.4 overs. Paul Jetto scored 29 and Ramesh Marshall 28; Phillip Mc Tuck took 2-29.
