The Wakenaam Cricket Committee (WCC) yesterday has received the backing of Regal Sports for the staging of its T20 tournament slated to start tomorrow.
Sales representative of the entity Richard Latif presented a cheque of an undisclosed sum to Zaheer Mohamed who accepted on behalf of the WCC at a simple ceremony held at its location 69 Seaforth Street, Campbellville.
Latif told Kaieteur Sport that they are happy to be associated with the game on the island and are looking forward to a successful tournament while Mohamed expressed gratitude to the company for their input.
Latif indicated that Regal Sports is a department of Regal Stationery and Computer Center which sells cricket bats, gloves, pads, helmets, gears bags and clothing as well as gym, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton and chess equipment.
In the opening fixtures Good Success will face Noitgedacht SC (09:00hrs) and Niotgedacht SC will play Sans Souci Jaguars (13:00 hrs) and the Wakenaam Community Center ground. At G Square SC ground in Belle Plaine, the host will entertain Maria’s Pleasure (09:00hrs) and Sans Souci will take on Zeelandia (13:00hrs).
