Golyn 10/10 Softball Cricket resumes tomorrow …
The Golyn 10/10 Softball Cricket Tournament organized by The Guyana Softball League continues this weekend on the West Coast. The tournament which carries a top prize of $200,000 and the runners up of $100,000 as well as other individual prizes, will see a new era in softball as the teams who had dominated other tournaments have fallen behind and others have steped up in their quest to be in the driving seat. The winner of this tournament will be known as the National Champion of Guyana and will take the number one rankings in softball cricket in Guyana.
The one ball manto which has been a great hit among the fans will also see a champion being crowned from throughout the zones.
The fixtures for this weekend are as follows:
Mighty Lions come up against Maracs XI in a battle of the unknown teams.
Super bet XI face Prem XI. Super bet XI are a team made up of talented youngsters from the Cornelia Ida village. The Prem XI have a number of experienced players who will be out to teach the youngsters there is no substitute for experience.
Good Fortuin Youths tangle with Unstoppable Youths. Both teams possess great talent but are young in the game as most of the players are under 17, mostly playing hardball cricket on the West Demerara. This game is expected to be close and a winner is hard to pick.
Vipers XI face Speedboat SC in a game the Vipers will hope to dispose of seasoned campaigners Speedboat SC.
And Crossbreed Warriors tangle with Power XI.
Meanwhile, the one ball manto will continue and the winner of the day will be the recipient of a $1,000 credit, compliments of Miss Love (West Coast) trading. The big prize on giveaway will be one touch screen cell phone for the overall winner and king of the manto.
