The Region Two Administration intends to now take a neutral approach when it comes to the awarding
of contracts. In fact, accounting officer, Rupert Hopkinson said that all contractors bidding for contracts in the Region would have to go through the standardized approach of registering their bids through tender board.
Hopkinson is maintaining that no enormous set of contracts would be given to any one contractor. He added that contracts would not be awarded illegally to any family member or friend. Instead, contractors across the board would have an opportunity to acquire contracts once their bids would have been approved after the tendering process.
The issue of contracts was raised by AFC councillor, Naith Ram, who said that the practice surrounding contracts should be revisited.
Ram reflected that in the past selected contractors were given enormous numbers of contracts, eventually making that contractor rich while stifling his competitors.
