RHTYSC/GBTI Inter Secondary School Tapeball…
The finalists of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club/ Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) Inter Secondary School Tapeball cricket Tournament were decided last Friday when the semi-finals were played at the Area ‘H’ Ground. Lower Corentyne Secondary and Port Mourant Secondary reached the female finals, while Lower Corentyne Secondary and Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary would clash in the male category.
Lower Corentyne defeated J.C Chandisingh in the first female match. LCSS batting first, chalked up 77 for 5 off their allotted ten overs with Sunita Sanichara and Lisa Williams both scoring 17. Bowling for JCCSS, J. Paddy took 2 wickets for 13 runs.
In reply JCCSS were bowled out for 52, Nicketa top scored with 14 and Latoya had 12. Seeta Samaroo took three wickets for 6 runs for the winners.
In the second female match, PMSS defeated CCHS by seven wickets. Batting first, Corentyne Comprehensive were restricted to 49 for 5 off ten overs as S. Sherese top scored with 15. Bowling for PMSS, Lynese Mckenzie took 2 for 9 and Densessa Fraser 2 for 7. PMSS raced to 50 for 3 off just 4.2 overs as Kavita Ramsammy 20 and Densessa Fraser 25 not out took the attack to the helpless CCHS female bowlers.
In the Male Category, Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary took sweet revenge for their female counterparts by defeating Port Mourant Secondary by 23 runs, Surendra Budhoo 28, D. Mangal 15 and E. Seecharran 14 all batted well to lead CCHS to 77 for 7 in their 10 overs, while S. Rampersaud 2 for 6 and N. Manu 2 for 17 bowled well for PMSS. Needing to score 78 off 10 overs to clinch another place in the finals, PMSS were restricted to 54 for 8 with only T. Joseph 16 and V. Bharat 17 reaching double figures. Emanuel Seepersaud returned with ball to claim 3 for 3 for CCHS.
Lower Corentyne clinched the other spot in the male finals when they easily defeated J.C. Chandisingh by 8 wickets. JCCSS were bowled out for 53 off 9.5 overs with only Virgnand Mangal offering resistance to Keith Sampson 3 for 10 and Junior Sinclair 3 for 8. National Under 15 player Kevlon Anderson then batted well for an unbeaten 30 to lead LCSS to an easy eight wickets victory.
The finals are scheduled for Friday 12th of February at the RHTYSC and the GBTI Port Mourant Branch would hand over trophies and medals afterwards.
