Lennox ‘Two Colours’ Wayne, the prosecution’s main witness in the trail of Police Sergeant Leon Lindo, who is accused of conspiring to kill businessman, Mohamed F. Khan, will gave his testimony on March 7.
This date was set yesterday by Magistrate Judy Latchman sitting in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts for the commencement of a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) in the case.
Lindo is accused of conspiring with Lennox ‘Two Colours’ Wayne to murder Khan, a businessman between July 10 and July 18, 2014 at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
The dismembered body of Mohamed F. Khan, who was last heard from on August 21, 2014, was discovered on a dam at Cummings Lodge on September 23, 2014. His skull, which was wrapped in a plastic bag, was located several feet from the body.
Khan, 54, had escaped execution in July 2014 at La Grange, West Bank Demerara, when a gunman shot him in his abdomen shortly after he returned to Guyana on a brief holiday. He had fled to neighbouring Venezuela after selling his business on Hadfield Street, and had spoken of threats to his life.
The charge against Police Sergeant Lindo of Lot 220 Belle West, Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara stemmed from revelations made by whistleblower Wayne.
This man is at present an inmate of the Georgetown Prisons awaiting High Court trial for the 2014 murder of Lusignan Cosmetologist, Ashmini Harriram.
Wayne and Lindo were both present in court yesterday. However, Lindo’s lawyer, Glenn Hanoman was a no show. When asked by the Magistrate of the whereabouts of his Attorney, the accused explained that he had made contact with his lawyer, who reassured him that he would be present at the court hearing.
But Magistrate Latchman repetitively told the police that she will proceed with the matter on the adjourned date with or without his Attorney.
Police Inspector, Vishnu Hunt is presenting the prosecution’s case.
