Mc Gill, Number Two Canal and Independence SC recorded victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association President’s Cup T20 continued recently.
Mc Gill defeated Long Pond SC by 52 runs at Wales. Batting first, Mc Gill managed 127-6 in 20 overs. Balram Aron made 48 and Travis Persaud 24. M. Chung and Anand Bharat claimed two wickets each. Long Pond SC were bowled out for 75 off 15 overs in reply. Navin Kissoon made 33 as Diquan Murray snared 4-19 and Persaud 2-24.
At Number Two Canal, the host overcame Christ Ambadassors by 66 runs. Number Two scored 189-8 in 20 overs, taking first strike. Derwin Christian struck 40 and Ramkumar Latchman got 29; K. Boyce had 4-15 for the visitors who were sent packing for 123 in 18.4 overs. Boyce made 20 as Seenarine Mathura captured 3-16 and Vishwanauth Jadunauth 2-5.
At La Grange, Independence SC beat Malvern SC by 72 runs. Independence SC posted 172-8, taking first knock. Safraz Esau slammed eleven fours and two sixes in scoring 70, while Jhon Paton got 24; Saif Ali picked up 3-32. Malvern were skittled for 100 in 16 overs in reply. Ameir Deen scored 22 as Paton and C. Bissessor grabbed three wickets each.
Meanwhile, the competition committee is asking all clubs to prepare their grounds for the commencement of the two-day competition. Clubs are kindly asked to make contact with Omar Hussain on 610-4900.
