At 2016 Spring Festival reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy last evening at the
New Thriving Restaurant on Main Street, it was revealed that the Guyana and China Governments will be looking forward to deepening existing relations.
The occasion attracted various members of the government, Chinese embassy officials and other dignitaries.
President David Granger stated that since developing diplomatic ties with China Guyana has enjoyed ties of blood, history and friendship. These ties have never wavered.
He said that Guyana looks forward to deepening relations with China and that the two countries should no longer been seen as “casual” acquaintances but partners in economic development.
He highlighted the recent and future collaboration between the two nations in areas such as health, infrastructure and Information Technology.
China’s Ambassador to Guyana, Zhang Limin, after congratulating Guyana on its 50th Independence Anniversary, said that the Chinese Government will continue to work with the Guyana government to improve the lives of all people and is enthusiastic in strengthen existing relations while creating new ones in areas particularly economic development.
