2015 A. Ally & Sons Inter-Secondary School Under-17 Cricket Competition in Berbice…

Berbice High School and Rosignol Secondary School both took first innings honours in their respective
semi-finals to earn their places in the final of the 2015 A. Ally & Sons Under-17 Inter-Secondary School Two-innings Cricket Competition in Berbice.
At Cumberland, Berbice High School beat Skeldon High School on first innings. Skeldon High batted first and in their 1st innings made 113 all out with Sanjay Deochand topscoring with 46 while Michael Burnett made 22 N.O. Bowling for Berbice High, offspinner Abdul Ramsammy took 4 for 26 following his 6 wicket haul against Bush Lot in the quarter-finals, while Berbice Under-17 legspinner Dion Sinclair took 3 for 12 and Brandon Pydanna 2 for 11.
When Berbice High School replied, their Berbice Under-15 batsmen Alex Algoo firstly put on 32 for the first wicket with Malcolm Mickle (19) and then 87 for the 2nd wicket with Dion Sinclair (27) too see them pass the crucial first innings target. Algoo went on to make 119 (11 fours and 5 sixes) following his 93 in the quarter-finals against Bush Lot, helping them to 188 for 5 declared. Kameshwar Chatterpaul took 2 for 34 for Skeldon.
Skeldon High in their 2nd innings were 27 for 3 at the close with Naresh Chan picking up 3 for 15.
Over at Blairmont, Rosignol Secondary got the better of the highly favoured Lower Corentyne Secondary School in their drawn match.
Batting first, Rosignol Secondary made 164 all out in their first innings with Chandradat Veersammy steering them to that total by batting through the innings to be last man out for 97 (10 fours and 2 sixes). Bowling for
Lower Corentyne, Guyana Under-15 allrounder Junior Sinclair took 5 for 41, his Guyana team mate Kevlon Anderson 2 for 29 and Berbice Under-15 player Keith Simpson 2 for 25.
Lower Corentyne in replying were coasting along at 71 for 1 at one stage but with Rosignol pacers Keyon Gangoo and Javed Karim getting into their strides taking the wickets of the inform Junior Sinclair and Kevlon Anderson for 32 and 20 respectively, Lower Corentyne only managed 154 all out. Karim ended with 4 for 41 and Gangoo 4 for 50.
Rosignol Secondary will therefore clash with Berbice High School in the final of the competition on Thursday at the Cumberland Ground.
