Ten contestants and a wild card were selected to contest the finals of the Assured Services Children Career Day Competition for students attached to Secondary Schools across the country.
The preliminary phase of the competition was held on Thursday and Friday at the Girl Guides Pavilion on Brickdam where students were engaged in a competition designed to prepare them for the challenges that may be encountered in the professional world.
Manager of Assured Services, Natheeah King-Mendonca, said that the purpose of the initiative is for the participants to obtain better understanding of the changes that impact the local, regional and global economies, especially when it comes to the labour market, adding that another important feature is the introduction of various occupations and at the same time guide their thinking towards decision making for future careers.
Assured Services is a small business company that provides professional business services in the areas of Marketing, Public Relations, Data Entry, Research & Analysis and Graphic Designs.
According to her, the competition between the participants was fierce. In her opinion all those who participated in the event will leave with a much better understanding of how the professional world of work operates and most likely are equipped to adapt to its changes.
