East Georgetown champions, St Joseph’s High School, defeated North Georgetown winners, Chase Academy
by 38 runs when the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Bank’s DIH Ltd’s Coco Cola, Rainforest Water along with Digicel continued recently.
Playing at Everest, St Joseph’s High School took first strike after winning the toss but only managed 108 all out in 24 overs. Kurt Lovell was the chief destroyer claiming excellent figures of 6-28.
Chase Academy found the going tough and were sent packing for 75 in 19 overs. Bowling for St Joseph’s High, Zacharia Mootoo turned in remarkable figures of 4-3, while Adrian Hackett and Tishaun Tracy who had two wickets each.
Over at Skeldon ground, in the Corentyne Zone, Skeldon Line Path crushed Skeldon High by 75 runs in a low scoring affair. Winning the toss and taking first strike, Skeldon Line Path were dismissed for 130 in 24 overs. Gavin Chatterpaul top scored with 35 which included three fours while Alex Burnett contributed 20. Kwesi Lewis bagged 3-18 while they were two wickets apiece for Aaron Jamoladeen, Sarwan Chaitnarine and Stephan Norah.
Skeldon High folded for 55 in 15.5 overs in reply. Gavin Chatterpaul, Rudy Jamoladeen, Afseer Hussain and Mahendra Chaitnarine had two scalps each.
The competition continues today with Chase Academy playing Charlestown Secondary at Everest, while Cummings Lodge Secondary will face Lusignan Secondary and Annandale Secondary battling LBI Secondary at Enterprise.
