The moment of truth is less than a week away and big question is who will walk away with the President’s Trophy, $1 million dollars and bragging rights?
The answer will be known on Saturday night at the Providence Stadium when a galaxy of International t20 stars invades the Stadium to play in the feature game under lights from 19:30hrs.
The Ramnaresh Sarwan led Legacy All Stars face-off with the 007 Warriors which will be led by Chris Barnwell to climax a day of fun and frolic for the entire family in an attempt to forge National unity through sports.
Chris Gayle has never made a century in Guyana but he said goodbye to the Big Bash in Australia with the fastest ever t20 fifty from just 12 balls and could correct that statistic here on Saturday.
Gayle will have to contend with very strong bowling attack which includes Reyad Emrit, Ronsford Beaton, Jason Holder, Daren Sammy, Veerasammy Permaul and Samuel Badree.
Every fan in the stands who take a one handed catch will be us$500 richer and if Gayle cuts loose they could have plenty of opportunity to do so.
Softball cricket attracts its own crowd as was seen by large turn-out for the Guyana Cup and with today (Tuesday) being the last day for the ‘early bird’ tickets which cost $2,000, an anticipated Capacity crowd is anticipated and tickets which will cost $3,000 after today is expected to be sold out before week-end.
Children under 12 will be admitted free providing they do not use a seat in the stands.
Five softball matches will be played from 10:00 hrs but semi-finals and Final of the Open 10/10 could the most exciting games for the softball fans. The ‘open’ will commence at 16:30hrs.
Demerara, Berbice, Regal and Wolf Warriors will compete for $500,000 in the ‘Open’10/10.
Berbice Masters and a female Berbice team will compete against their Demerara counterparts. The winner of female match will get $150,000 while the Masters champions will receive $50,000. The Man-of-the-Man in the feature event will collect us$500.
