The performances of 25 trainees were celebrated on Friday when the Machinery Corporation of Guyana Limited (MACORP) held its Excavator Operator Training Programme graduation ceremony.
The trainees attended a seven-week programme where they were given the opportunity to learn excavator operator safety, identify excavator components, use the simulator for control familiarization, carry out recommended maintenance procedures, and were allowed to demonstrate basic operation techniques.
The Best Graduating trainee was Rasheed Harrison with Bisram Ramrattan taking the runner up position and Kwame Sinclair in the third. The three top trainees were rewarded for their outstanding performance.
The batch of graduates has brought to 739 trainees who graduated from the MACORP’s excavator programme which first started in 2008. The programme was introduced with the aim of equipping technicians and operators with skills to service and operate Caterpillar equipment and machinery in order to create a future for young Guyanese.
MACORP continues to play a pivotal role in the country’s development by contributing directly with technical support and supply of equipment to related sectors including: mining, agriculture, road construction, basic industry, marine, forestry and electrical power generation.
MACORP has established branches at Bartica and Port Kaituma with its head office located at Providence, East Bank Demerara and is the only authorized Caterpillar Dealer in Guyana. The company has been operating for over 20 years, leading Guyana’s development and fuelling the success of stakeholders by directly providing integral Equipment and Integrated Solutions.
