The victim, identified as Keron Caleb, succumbed around 15.45 hrs yesterday, shortly after being taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
A police official said that they have received reports that Caleb shot himself while playing with a firearm.
The incident occurred at an area in Venezuela which is some four hours drive from Port Kaituma. Caleb is said to have worked with a gold mining company in the Spanish-speaking territory.
