A fine all-round performance by Damien Vantull handed University of Guyana (UG) a 100-run victory over Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) when action in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society second division 40-over tournament continued yesterday.
Vantull struck one four and six maximums in a top score of 48 as UG posted 179 all out in 37 overs, batting first at Malteenoes Sports Club. Omesh Danram hit two fours and a similar number of sixes in scoring 32 while Leon Williams made 18. Medium pacer Richard Latif grabbed 4-50 from eight overs, while S. Sankar had 2-16.
MYO hardly threatened and were sent packing for 79 in 25 overs in reply. Zulfikar Ali scored 34 inclusive of four fours and two sixes while Rohit Dutchin 14 and A. King 10 were the only other batsmen that reached double figures. Vantull who bowled with variation and control bagged 4-1 off 3.5 overs while Lloyd George claimed 3-27.
