Dear Editor,
My name is A. Malek Abubekr Cave, Leader of Liberal Democrats (LD), a political party born in Guyana in 2004. I have noted in recent times articles appearing in your news paper under the stringer “The voice of The Liberal Democrats” in the name of one Sase Singh.
I wish to inform that the person writing under the name “The Liberal Democrats” has no affiliation to our party, Liberal Democrats and I am advising your news paper to desist from printing any article under the said name; Liberal Democrats.
Please be advised that Liberal Democrats is a political party registered with the Guyana Elections Commission and has also contested the 2006 General and Regional elections under the said name.
The articles of Mr. Singh do not in anyway express our views and therefore we wish that your newspapers desist from publishing same using the said name “The Liberal Democrats”.
While our party appears to be inactive, please note that we have quietly supported the last change of government and did not find it useful to contest the last two elections owing to the tightness of those polls. Having not contested those elections does not in anyway mean that our party is defunct. In fact we are organized and are quiet prepared to re-enter the political fray, as such we advise that the name The Liberal Democrats not be associated with Mr. Singh who is unknown to me or any of the party’s Executives, Members or Supporters.
Failure to do as is requested in this email would require us to seek legal advice to effect our stated desire. Thanks for your co-operation
A. Malek Abubekr Cave
