Buoyed by the success of last year, the Guyana Fitness Games has once again
partnered with E-Networks to stage the second annual E-Networks Cross Fitness Challenge which will be held on Sunday, March 13, at the National Park.
According to a release from the Organisers, plans are in full gear to stage this epic competition and E-Networks is proud to partner with Guyana Fitness Games as title sponsor.
Last year’s event produced nail biting excitement that saw most of the spectators leave the relative comfort of the stands to get close to the athletes as the thrill and rivalry of the competition built up.
Spectators under the shelter of umbrellas provided by the main sponsor were caught up in the euphoria of support for their favourite athletes and teams, making the experience of witnessing the inaugural event an unforgettable one, according to the Organisers.
The release added that the competition is open to athletes and fitness enthusiasts nationwide and will test their fitness level and endurance. There will be four events that combine several different exercises and contestants will be divided into teams of three males and one female where a panel of judges will evaluate the competitors based on their execution and speed.
Ending scores will determine the E-Networks Cross Fitness Challenge fittest team and fittest individuals in the Male and Female categories.
Registration is ongoing and teams that are interested in participating in the Challenge could make contact at Fitness Express on Sheriff Street to register. Registration ends on February 5.
Meanwhile, Cross-Fit is a training programme that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied and challenging workouts. Each workout will test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, not specializing in one particular thing, but rather with the goal of building a body that’s capable of practically anything and everything. Cross-Fit is extremely different from a commercial gym workout.
Event coordinator Jordana Ramsay–Gonsalves along with Noshavyah King, well known Zumba Fitness instructor and certified personal trainer and Jamie McDonald, owner of Fitness Express, one of the fastest growing fitness retail establishments in Guyana, have teamed up and formed Guyana Fitness Games the hosts of the E-Networks Cross Fitness Challenge 2016.
Persons are being urged to come out and support the event and see what it takes to be called the nation’s Fittest Athlete.
Entrance fee is $1000 and children are free.
