Government has named officials to a number of state boards, including the Guyana Office For Investment (GO-Invest).
According to the Extraordinary Gazette published on January 4, female executive Patricia Bacchus will be
the Chairperson for that premier investment promotion body. Bacchus is the Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Container Inc. (CCI), which manufactures boxes, among other things.
Also named to the GO-Invest Board of Directors are Dr. Shamir Ally and Basil Blackman who will be members.
The other members will be drawn from the private sector, Guyana Revenue Authority, Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Infrastructure and Natural Resources; Environmental Protection Agency and Parliamentary Opposition.
The Chief Executive Officer for GO-Invest will be the ex-Officio member. The life of the board is for a period of two years, from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017.
Another entity, the Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund, has been approved for a new Board of Directors that will operate from December 1, 2015 to November 30, 2017.
Heading the board as Chairman is Alan Munroe while the members are Charles Ogle, Paul Bhim, Jairam Petam, Carvil Duncan, Kenneth Joseph, Rooplall Persaud, and Paul Cheong.
Another key entity, the Closed Area Committee, has been approved for a new Board of Directors for a period of 13 months with effect from December 1, 2015 to December 31, 2016.
Dela Britton will be the Chairperson while Abiola Henry is the Member/Secretary.
The other members of the committee are Clayton Hall, Euliene Watson, Aseef Balmacoon and a representative to be drawn from the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission.
Another entity, National Data Management Authority, also has a new Board of Directors for the period January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.
Floyd Levi, Advisor on E-Government, is the Chairman. The members are Michael Griffith, Rayman Khan, Lance Hinds, Lenandlar Singh, Yashwanti Ramudit, Godfrey Proctor and Sedella Ferrell.
