Host G Square Cavaliers of Wakenaam notched up consecutive victories over Aurora SC of Essequibo Coast
when the teams collided in two T20 fixtures recently at Belle Plaine. The home team won the first match up by five wickets.
Aurora batted first and were undermined by some steady bowling by off-spinner Satrohan Shiwnandan as they were sent packing for 112 off the final ball of their innings. Shiwnandan finished with 4-11 while Dayawant Shiwnandan claimed 2-8 and pacer Chandrika Ragnauth 2-30. Deoraj Singh struck 44.
G Square Cavaliers responded with 116-5 in 18.3 overs. Kamal Khan stroked a fluent 39 while Satnarine Sahadeo got 30. G Square Cavaliers won the second encounter which was reduced to 10 overs by a similar margin.
Aurora found the going tough and could only muster 71-8, taking first strike. Dayawant Shiwnandan had 2-9 and medium pacer Lokram Narine 2-10. The host replied with 72-5 in 8.2 overs. Jaggernauth Manbodh made 17. The games were organised as part of G Square Cavaliers development programme.
