Commander of ‘C’ Division, Marlon Chapman said yesterday that investigations are still ongoing in locating the man believed to have fatally stabbed father of two, Ganesh Ramlakhan of Mon Repos, on New Year’s Day.
Eyewitness accounts are that Ramlakhan was having a conversation with neighbour and relative, Ameena Hakh, when they were approached by Ramlakhan’s cousin, Vishal Baldeo also known as Vicky.
Baldeo, according to Hakh, whispered “something” into Ramlakhan’s ear, following which there was an exchange of words and a slap, before Baldeo allegedly attacked Ramlakhan with a kitchen knife.
Ramlakhan was stabbed several times about his body. The Post Mortem report revealed that he died of a punctured heart.
According to Hakh, she had received a call from the suspect last week on a Surinamese-coded number issuing threats that he wasn’t done with her and he would be coming for her.
Despite relatives’ claims of reporting the call to the police, the Commander said yesterday that he learnt of this after it was published by Kaieteur News just recently, therefore, he is calling on the relatives to provide information that would lead to the suspect’s arrest.
If the information is found to be true, the Commander stated that due to the relationship with the Surinamese Police, nabbing the suspect would be possible.
