The executive and members of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) especially the Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes Under-15 team have expressed sympathy to the family of the late Derek Mendes, founder of the Farfan and Mendes Group of companies since 1977.
Mendes who passed away on Saturday last has been one of our strongest and dedicated sponsors of the club.
In a press release, the club stated that Farfan and Mendes Ltd. can be described as one of the main reasons for their success over the past twenty five years, playing a major role in the cricketing careers of players the likes of Assad and Abdel Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Khemraj Mahadeo, Shemaine Campbelle, Clinton Pestano, Eon Hooper and numerous others.
The club noted that Mr. Mendes’ widow, Mrs. June Mendes served as their second Patron for five years and over the years has remained very close to them as a friend, mentor and role model. “We are confident that Guyana would cherish the memory of the late Derek Mendes as a true and visionary Guyanese who worked hard to develop our beloved country.”
The RHTY&SC would remember Mrs. Mendes, her three sons – Dominic, Alexander and Andrew and the entire family in our prayers and would like to reassure them of our love during this tragic period.
