A new Board of Governors has been appointed to govern the operations of President’s College. Sitting at the helm as Chairman of the Board is Retired Chief Education Officer, Mr. Oswald Kendall.
Mr. Kendall was in fact the first Principal of the school when it opened its doors in 1985.
The immediate past Chairman of President’s College is Mahendra Sharma, who holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Energy Agency.
According to the Official Gazette, the Minister of Education, acting under Section 3 (6) of the PC Act of 1990, considered a list of names of persons submitted to him, from which he identified and eventually appointed the Board members.
The life of the Board which became effective on October 27, 2015, is intended to span two years.
Also sitting on the Board are Dr. Marlon Price, Veterinarian, Guyana Livestock Development Authority; Mr. Donald Ainsworth; Dr. Robin Austin, Agriculturist; Ms. Cloyett Sumner, Information Technology Specialist; Mr. Kiran Nauth, Businessman; Mr. Kempton France, Engineer at the Guyana Power and Light Incorporated; Dr. Davanand Tika, Medical Doctor and Pastor; Ms. Sumaiyah Natasha-Lewis; Mr. Ernest Elliot, Assistant National Director at the Civil Defence Commission; Mr. Allan Munroe, Deputy Chairman at the Teaching Service Commission; Mr Lumumba Angoy, Accountant/former student; Ms. Ingrid Fung, Retired Principal of St. Joseph High School; Mr. Marlon Daniels, Engineer at the Guyana Water Incorporated; Mr. Errol Luke, Agriculturist and University of Guyana Lecturer; Mr. Loren Park, Representative Regional Education Officer; Mr. Mortimer Livan, Representative Regional Education Officer; Ms. Lin Lewis, Teachers’ Representative; Ms. Claudia Garraway, Students’ Representative; Ms. Coretta McDonald, Representative, Guyana Teachers’ Union and Mr. Regan Baxter, Representative Parent Teacher Association.
The Ex-officio members of the Board are PC Principal, Ms. Carlyn Canterbury and Deputy Principal, Ms. Yvonne Chichester.
