It may be the end of the year today but senior staffers of the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) have a few things to light their eyes up.
According to a statement from the Power Company, yesterday, the junior and senior managers will walk away with a one-off bonus of $60,000 plus a 6.56 percent increase.
This was following an agreement between GPL and the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) after weeks of salary and allowances negotiations.
Both parties on Tuesday mutually entered into an agreement for the emoluments and benefits for employees represented by the GPSU for the calendar year 2015.
Negotiations commenced on November 18, last which witnessed proposals and counter proposals.
In the final agreement, Junior and Senior Managers of GPL will receive the following emoluments and benefits. For the year 2015, an increase of 6.56% on the existing salary level as at December 31, 2014 at each position of employment.
They will also receive a “one-off” payment of $5,000 per month or $60,000 per annum for the year 2015.
There will be an increase of $40 per mile for travelling from a previous $135 per mile, commencing January 1, 2015.
With regard to Overtime/Meal Allowance, commencing January 1, 2015, there will be an increase of $100 from a previous $1,000 in 2014 to $1,100 in 2015.
Normal staffers were also earlier this month granted an increase.
