Christmas parties are never too much for children. With all the parties hosted across the country to ring in this joyous season, O’Reily Mc Curdy and his wife, Karen Blackman hosted their annual Christmas party last Saturday. The venue was their Mc Doom Public Road, East Bank Demerara residence.
The party catered for over 500 children, who came from all parts of the country, even from as far as Linden. The event commenced in mid-afternoon and saw many children interacting with Santa Claus. Some of the children attending the party were as young as 10 months old.
They were all treated to a hot meal, gifts and a wide range of confectionery.
In and around the premises were several barrels filled with toys. This caused some of the children to behave disorderly. However, as soon the two Santa Claus graced the floor, the participants were on their best behaviour. This was because they had threatened to not give out any gifts.
Blackman, an overseas-based Guyanese said that the aim of the party is to give back to her community. She explained that there are a lot of unfortunate kids that do not know from where they will be getting a present.
According to the woman, she and her husband have been hosting the party for several years and will continue to do so. This event was a collaborative effort between many of Blackman’s relatives and friends.
Many parents who brought their children to the party thanked Blackman and her husband for their generous humanitarian works and urged them to continue contributing to the cost.
They are being paid while we are being played…your pain is their gain!
