-tournament continues in January
Pepsi Sonics and Knights became the latest winners Sunday night in the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) League at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall before the tournament takes a hiatus to facilitate the Holiday Season.
Trevor Smith shot his way to 21 points to lead Sonics to a 65-53 win against Republic Bank Nets with national guard, Jason Squires contributing 12 points. For Nets, forwards Mortimer Williams and Sheldon Howell scored 16 and 11 points respectively.
Knights outscored Patriots 60-55 for the win. Guard, Owan Walton scored 27 points for Knights while Lloyd Bart and Kester Gomes had 10 points each. Centre, Sherlan Legall had 14 points for Patriots while Ashton Adams scored 13 points.
In the Under-23 contest, Ravens dominated Sonics 73-41 with Anfernee Jervis and Sebastian Luke scoring 15 points apiece. For Pepsi, L. Grant and J. Lee also had 15 points apiece but in a losing cause.
The League Playoffs continues in the second week of January. Club standings will be sent to the various clubs before the start of the playoffs.
