presence of Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart among others, informed of their commitment to the yearend event run by the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA).
With several cash incentives at stake along with trophies, Malta Supreme Brand Manager Clayton Mackenzie informed that the health benefits were thought of when they decided to brand the tournament once again this year. In light of this he advised the use of the supplement drink for the players of the various clubs during the tournament in particular.
It was recalled by Communications Manager of Banks DIH Troy Peters that the regaining of the recent National Schools Athletics, Cycling and Swimming championships saw the Malta Supreme beverage being displayed for the benefits of the young; and with the Region performing so well it was apt to place this Malta Supreme product once again where many youthful players will benefit.
Chairing the proceedings was Secretary of the LABA Joseph Chapman who thanked the sponsors for giving their backing to a tournament they traditionally supported over the years.
Ashton Angel, another LABA representative, informed that the tournament will not be played on some traditional days since the LABA deliberately avoided clashing with the other Banks DIH promotion at this time, the Upper Demerara Football Association/ GT Beer yearend championship adding that regardless the tournament will be played and the success it will be is because of the sponsorship it has received.
Ms. Shondel Easton, the Banks DIH Linden Branch Manager said she was pleased with the efforts being made to promote basketball by the association and is looking forward to an exciting championship among the playing clubs Block 22 Flames, Half Mile Bulls, Victory Valley Royals, Retrieve Raiders, Amelia’s Ward Jets and Bankers Trust Falcons.
The tournament will see the semifinals played on December 28 and the final on January 2, 2016.
