GGMC is a corrupt state agency

Dear Editor,
The recent allegations of over $200,000 monthly being spent on food and drinks for GGMC is just the beginning of many secrets GGMC as the custodian of the mining industry in Guyana should be answering to the public about. As a mining advocate, I always held the belief that GGMC is one of the most corrupt state agency and has a lot of secrets within its senior functionaries  . There is serious allegation of rampant corruption inside the agency.  Prior to may 11th election, 3 billion dollars was to be transferred to the former Ministry of Housing, signaling the wealth the agency is in possession of. GGMC officials and officers stationed in mining locations across the mining districts should be made to declare their assets to the Integrity Commission. There is serious allegation of corruption in the mining industry and GGMC is being blamed as the facilitator of persons mining on PL (Prospecting Licenses) which is illegal.
GGMC should be restructured and steps taken by government to minimize the level of corruption that exists within the agency. For GGMC has out lived its present scope of work as mining is being redefined in Guyana.
