Achievers defeated Blairmont by five wickets to win the final of the West Berbice Cricket Association/Republic Bank (D’ Edward branch) 10/10 tournament which was contested recently at Cotton Tree.
Blairmont took first knock and managed 70-8 with Nick Ramsaroop scoring 24 and Heerelall Bridgelall 14. Keyron Fraser grabbed 3-6 off two overs and Rennison Mitchell 2-5.
Achievers responded with 74-5 in 8.4 overs. Arthley Bailey made 16 and Quacy McPherson 15; Waqar Hassan claimed 2-12 and Shabeer Baksh 2-16.
Achievers overcame Cotton Tree Die Hard by 11 runs in their semi final encounter. Batting first, Achievers scored 78-7. Bailey struck 27 not out and Steffon Adams 15. Tage Singh took 2-11 and Romain Boodram 2-14. Cotton Tree responded with 67-7; Chris Ramnarine and Edwards had two wickets each.
Blairmont beat D’ Edward by 21 runs in their match up. Blairmont batted first and scored 93-4. Ramsaroop cracked 29 and Kevin Jawahir 15; Lakraj Sukraj took 2-16. D’ Edward got to 72-9 in reply. Navin Rampersaud made 12 as Hassan picked up 2-6, Jawahir 2-9, Bridgelall 2-10 and Derick Cadogan 2-19.
