Avinash Looknauth’s 54 not out steers Tamarind Root to Playoffs
Tamarind Root Cricket Club of Hampshire, Corentyne completed a clean sweep of the Zone J preliminary
rounds when they beat Rose Hall Town Bakewell B to end as winners of that zone to earn their place in the last 16th playoffs of the 2015 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice.
In the match former Berbice Under-19 offspinner Adrian Niroj Singh and left arm spinner Kunal Mangal each took 3 for 17 to bowl out Rose Hall for 120 in 29.1 Overs. Then opening batsmen Avinash Looknauth scored 54 N.O (3 fours and 4 sixes) to steer them to an easy 7-wicket win.
In another match, Berbice Under-15 batsman Alex Algoo slammed 86 ( 9 fours and 1 six) and former Berbice allrounder Balram Samaroo 56 (3 fours) to guide Fort Canje Warriors to 252 for 5 in 35-Overs against Canefield who were then bowled out for 116 in reply with Warriors offspinner Charran Singh taking 5 for 25 from 7-Overs.
Also scoring half centuries were former Berbice Under-19 batsmen Hakeem Hinds of Tucber Park and Sanjay Badal of Canje Pathfinders.

Fort Canje Warriors 252 for 5 in 35-Overs with Alex Algoo 86, Balram Samaroo 56, Royden Phil 33. Satesh Rupai 3 for 21 was the best bowler for Canefield Sports Club. Canefield replied with 116 in 33-Overs with Rayon Sunthgolam 33. Charran Singh 5 for 25 and Balram Samaroo 2 for 7 were the best bowlers for the host.
At Edinburgh: Tucber Park beat Angoy’s Avenue Achievers by 57 runs.
Tucber Park 154 for 5 in 20-Overs with Hakeem Hinds 52, Chetram Persaud 25 and Teron Sampson 2 for 18. Angoy’s Avenue Achievers in reply made 97 for 6 in 20-Overs with Keion De Jesus taking 3 for 11 and Julian Moore 2 for 14.
At Goed Bananen Land: Canje Pathfinders beat Betsy Ground Strykers by 5 wickets.
Betsy Ground Strykers 120 all out in 23.2 Overs with Collis Greaves taking 4 for 20 and Keisher Gangaram 3 for 25. Canje Pathfinders in reply made 125 for 5 in 14.5 Overs with Sanjay Badal 57.
